Oman voices support for Palestinian statehood with East Jerusalem as capital

MUSCAT,  (Xinhua) — Oman on Tuesday expressed its support for the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, Oman News Agency (ONA) reported.

Oman “calls for a political solution to the ongoing conflict between Palestinians and Israelis in a way that ensures the two states and their peaceful coexistence side by side,” said an official statement by the ministry of foreign affairs.

The Israeli army has killed 62 Palestinians and wounded more than 1,700 others since Monday, when the U.S. relocated embassy to the disputed holy city of Jerusalem, fuelling more violent protests among the Palestinians.

Since the start of the “Great March of Return” mass rally on March 30, the Israeli army has killed 111 Palestinians and wounded more than 10,000 others.
