
Hyderabad, Feb.1 (RAHNUMA): The Telangana government has declared financial aid for the family of Excise Constable Gajula Soumya, aged 25, who suffered severe injuries during an alleged assault by ganja traffickers in Nizamabad. Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries at the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad on Saturday night.
Excise Minister Jupally Krishna Rao announced that the family would receive a cash compensation of Rs. 1 crore, in addition to a government employment opportunity for one of its members.
The Minister expressed deep sorrow over Soumya’s death while performing her duty and assured that the government would extend comprehensive support to her family. Furthermore, he indicated that the Excise department personnel on duty would be equipped with weapons for their protection.
On January 23 in Nizamabad, Constable Soumya displayed great bravery by attempting to apprehend a gang engaged in the illegal transport of ganja. During the operation, the traffickers struck her with their vehicle, resulting in critical injuries that necessitated her treatment at NIMS. Ultimately, she lost her battle for recovery and passed away in the hospital.
