‘2 YRS, ZERO DEVELOPMENT’: KTR SLAMS CONG GOVT IN KHAMMAM

Khammam, Jan.7 (RAHNUMA): BRS working president K.T. Rama Rao on Wednesday accused the Congress government of failing to deliver any development in Khammam district even after two years in power. Despite having three ministers from the district, the people had seen ‘no tangible benefits’, he remarked.

Addressing a felicitation meeting of the newly elected BRS sarpanches in Khammam, KTR recalled that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao had initiated the Sitarama Sagar project to transform the district, completing nearly 90 percent of the works. He said the project was designed to provide irrigation to 7.5 lakh acres and secure Khammam’s rightful share of Godavari waters.

KTR alleged that the Congress government had neglected and sidelined the project. He accused the three district ministers of prioritising commissions over public welfare, claiming they were ‘incapable of doing good’ and were deceiving the people. Sitarama Sagar project was planned to irrigate 1.30 lakh acres in Aswaraopet, along with benefits to Sathupalli (40,000 acres), Illendu (20,000 acres), Kothagudem (10,000 acres) and Wyra (20,000 acres), but was abandoned by the present government, he quipped.

Mocking the Congress leadership, KTR said that apart from ‘defaults, demolitions and explosions’, the state government had achieved nothing in the last two years.
