CM Revanth announces major bonus for Singareni workers ahead of Dasara festival

Hyderabad, Sept.20 (NSS): In a significant move, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has announced a generous bonus for the workers of Singareni coal mines.

Disclosing the details at the media conference at Secretariat here on Friday,  the Chief Minister along with Ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said the State government has decided to issue the Dasara bonus in advance, with each worker receiving Rs.1.90 lakh.

“This amount is Rs.20,000 more than last year’s bonus. To facilitate this, the government will allocate Rs.796 crore. Additionally, in recognition of their contributions, Singareni workers will receive a share in the company’s profits, with at least 33 percent being distributed among them,” Revanth Reddy announced.

He stated that the government is announcing the Dasara bonus earlier this year as a mark of respect for the hard work and contribution of the workers.

The Chief Minister also praised the resilience of the Singareni workers, calling their strength an inspiration to all. He highlighted the pivotal role these workers played in the Telangana movement and acknowledged their efforts in shaping the state’s future.

In a historic move, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka announced that contract workers in Singareni will also receive a Dasara bonus for the first time.

He highlighted that the Congress government has declared substantial bonuses for Singareni workers, with a total profit of Rs.4,701 crores recorded for the year 2023-24. Of this amount,  Rs.796 crores will be allocated as bonuses for the workers, Bhatti disclosed.

“The State government’s decision marks a significant change in the policy that previously limited bonuses to regular employees. Each contract contract worker will receive a Dasara bonus of Rs.5,000. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to ensuring that contract workers, who historically did not receive bonuses, are now recognised and rewarded,” he added.

The Deputy Chief Minister further stated that the State government has decided to invest the profits earned by the Singareni Collieries for future needs.
