
Hyderabad, Feb.11 (RAHNUMA): In a major anti-drug operation, sleuths of the Commissioner’s Task Force (West Zone) along with SR Nagar Police arrested two persons allegedly involved in ganja cultivation and distribution, seizing 70 kilograms of dry ganja worth approximately Rs.35 lakh.
The accused have been identified as Maniel Dalabhera (30), a farmer from Odisha accused of cultivating ganja, and Ismail Raita (48), a Medchal-based worker allegedly involved in peddling the narcotic substance in Hyderabad.
According to Addl. DCP Md Iqbal Siddique, Dalabhera resorted to ganja cultivation due to financial hardship, while Raita allegedly began selling the substance after moving to Hyderabad for employment and being introduced to the trade through relatives.
Authorities recovered two mobile phones along with the contraband during the operation.
Issuing a public advisory, the Commissioner’s Task Force warned the youth against drug abuse, stating that narcotics destroy careers, families and future. Citizens have been urged to report suspicious activities to the police by dialing 100.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Inspector Ch. Yadender and SIP D. Ravi Raj, SIP, West zone task force along with their teams and SR Nagar Police.
