
Hyderabad, Jan.13 (RAHNUMA): State Health Minister Damodar Rajanarasimha on Tuesday said the Telangana government has filled 9,572 posts in the health department in the last two years, fulfilling a key promise to unemployed youth.
Speaking at a ceremony at Osmania Medical College, Koti, where appointment letters were distributed to 1,257 Lab Technicians (Grade-II), the minister said the recruitment process was completed at an unprecedented pace. A total of 23,323 candidates appeared for the exam, of whom 1257 were selected. “The role of lab technicians is critical as treatment today begins with accurate diagnosis. Their reports form the backbone of medical care”, the minister said, urging them to help upgrade government labs to NABL standards. Recruitment for another 7,267 posts is underway, while notifications would soon be issued for 996 additional posts approved by the finance department, he noted.
Highlighting the government’s vision of a ‘Healthy Telangana’, the minister said initiatives such as the new Osmania Hospital building, enhanced Rs,10-lakh Aarogyasri coverage, NCD clinics, cancer day-care centres, Maitri clinics for transgenders and free IVF services reflect the state’s commitment to healthcare reform.
The health minister along with transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar and MP Anil Kumar Yadav, distributed the appointment letters to the selected candidates.
