Hyderabad, March 19 (INN): Former minister and MLA T Harish Rao demanded immediate support from the State Government for farmers who have suffered losses due to untimely rains.
Harish Rao highlighted that Adilabad, Nizamabad, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Rajanna Sirisilla, Medak, Siddipet, Rangareddy, and other districts were severely affected by hailstorms accompanied by gusty winds. The hailstorm devastated farmers just as crops were about to sprout. He emphasized that farmers faced substantial damage to paddy, maize, sorghum, and various horticultural crops, including papaya and mango.
Recalling past practices, Harish Rao noted that when farmers encountered losses due to untimely rains, the then Chief Minister, K. Chandrashekhar Rao, personally visited affected farmers, assuring them of support and paid immediate compensation of Rs. 10,000.
Expressing disappointment, Harish Rao lamented the current Congress government’s lack of response despite the untimely rains for two or three days. He urged the Congress leaders to think beyond politics and help the affected farmers.
Harish Rao demanded immediate compensation for crop damage. He called for an assessment promptly, followed by the immediate disbursement of Rs. 10,000 per acre as compensation to affected farmers.
