Phone tapping under KCR worse than emergency: BJP MP Bandi Sanjay

Hyderabad, 28th May 2024: BJP MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar has intensified his allegations against Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), claiming that the extent of phone tapping under KCR’s administration is worse than what was experienced during the Emergency period in India. Sanjay has accused the Telangana government of extensive and illegal surveillance, asserting that it is a direct attack on democratic principles and personal freedoms.

Sanjay criticized KCR for allegedly using phone tapping as a tool to control and manipulate political opponents and dissenters. He equated KCR’s tactics to those used during the Emergency declared by Indira Gandhi in 1975-77, known for severe curtailment of civil liberties and media censorship. Sanjay’s claims also suggest that KCR is using these methods to maintain power and suppress opposition within the state.

The controversy gained traction when Sanjay claimed that his own mobile phone was confiscated by the state government, which he suggests was part of a broader strategy to monitor and intimidate him and other BJP leaders. This accusation comes amidst a backdrop of political tensions in Telangana, with allegations of corruption and misuse of power frequently exchanged between the ruling Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and the BJP.

Sanjay’s statements reflect the ongoing political rivalry in Telangana, particularly as the state prepares for upcoming elections. His allegations are part of a larger narrative used by the BJP to challenge the BRS’s governance, accusing it of being corrupt and autocratic. These developments highlight the intense political battle in Telangana, with both sides leveraging accusations of misconduct to sway public opinion and gain electoral advantage.
