
Hyderabad, June 22 (INN): Senior TDP MLA Ch Ayyanna Patrudu was unanimously elected as the Speaker of the 16th Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh.
The announcement was made by Protem Speaker Gorantla Butchaiah Chaudhary. Following the announcement, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan escorted Ayyanna Patrudu to the Speaker’s chair.
The newly elected MLAs took their oaths on the first day of the session. Subsequently, the nomination process for the Speaker’s election commenced, with the deadline for nominations set at 5 PM on Friday. Ayyanna Patrudu’s election was unanimous, as he was the sole nominee.
Ayyanna Patrudu, representing the Narsipatnam constituency of Anakapalli district, has a long political career, having entered politics with the formation of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) in 1983. He has previously served as an MP and has contested ten times as an MLA from Narsipatnam, winning seven times. He has also held ministerial positions in five different governments. (INN)
