Hyderabad, June 22 (INN): Congress MLC T Jeevan Reddy asked BRS leader Harish Rao to keep his resignation letter to honour the challenge of resigning from the post of Siddipet MLA if the Congress Government waived off crop loans by August 15.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan on Saturday, Jeevan Reddy said that the Telangana Cabinet has already given its nod to waive off crop loans up to Rs 2 lakh by August 15. The state government also promised compensation to farmers who lost crops due to natural calamities. He said a unique crop insurance scheme was also being launched besides giving a bonus of Rs 500 to support the farmers. Therefore, in order to honour the challenge, he said Harish Rao should quit the MLA’s post.
Jeevan Reddy said the BRS party was on the verge of extinction in Telangana. He said four BRS MLAs had already joined the Congress, and many more were ready to switch parties.
Thanking Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for the cabinet decision on crop loan waiver, he announced that the Congress party would organise celebrations in every mandal. (INN)
