Hyderabad, June 26 (INN): The Begumpet Police, in collaboration with the Task Force North Zone, have arrested six individuals, including a minor, in connection with the brutal murder of Shaikh Usman on the night of June 25. The accused have been handed over to judicial custody.
Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, Deputy Commissioner of Police North Zone S. Rashmi Perumal provided details of the case. The main accused, 26-year-old K Mohammad Ejaz, and the victim, Shaikh Osman, were childhood friends who resided in the Patigada area of Begumpet.
Two months ago, Ejaz discovered that his sister-in-law, Neha, had been in a relationship with Osman for a month. Disapproving of this relationship, Ejaz warned both Neha and Osman to end it. He even deleted their contact numbers from their phones and stopped their personal meetings. Subsequently, Osman created a fake Snapchat account in Neha’s name to sabotage her engagement, which led to its cancellation.
According to DCP Perumal, the situation escalated when Ejaz’s wife informed him that Osman, his brother Hussain, and their mother had spoken obscenely to her and threatened that Osman would commit suicide if Neha was not married to him. Enraged, Ejaz, along with co-accused Muhammad Feroze (24), Sahil Khan (19), Muhammad Fazal (20), Muhammad Rashid (18), and the minor, planned to kill Osman.
On the night of June 25, at around 11:40 pm, Osman was returning home with his sister on a bike. Near Ganesh Mandapam, Ejaz and his accomplices stopped their bike and knocked it over. While the others held Osman down, Ejaz attacked him with a knife in front of his sister. The accused fled when Osman’s sister screamed for help. Osman succumbed to his injuries later.
The swift action by the Begumpet Police and Task Force North Zone led to the arrest of the accused. (INN)
