Hyderabad, June 26 (INN): Candidates aspiring to become teachers in residential educational institutions in Telangana staged a unique kneeling protest at Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy’s residence on Wednesday. The protest was organised to highlight the delay in filling up 9,210 vacant teaching positions.
This marked the second protest within 15 days by these candidates, who demanded the immediate filling of teacher positions without considering backlogged vacancies. The protesters also urged the government to implement the High Court’s interim order, which directed the government to consider the applications of qualified candidates.
“We have been waiting for the announcement of appointments since last month,” said one candidate. “We do not want free jobs but insist that all positions be filled based on the merit list.” (INN)
