Hyderabad, July 22 (NSS): Expressing regret over the derogatory comments made by senior IAS officer Smita Sabharwal against the disabled persons, the Development & Welfare Association of the Blind, Telangana (DWAB) has demanded to withdraw her comments immediately.
Ponugoti Chokka Rao, Vice President, AICB, Delhi & General Secretary, DWAB, Hyderabad said that it was not right to talk irresponsibly on the part of Smita Sabharwal saying that whether reservations are necessary for the disabled in the civil services.
“The reservations are provided to overcome the discrimination based on poverty, caste, creed, religion and disabled persons. But, Smita Sabharwal has spoken against the judiciary and the parliamentary system,” Chokka Rao said.
Speaking at a press conference in Somajiguda here on Monday, CSB IAS Academy chief Balalatha lashed out at Smita Sabharwal’s comments on quota for civilians with disabilities.
“The bueaty is not necessary to crack IAS. Who are you to talk about disabled people? Let’s both write the exam. Let’s see who gets the highest marks,” Balalatha challenged.
“If Smita Sabharwal doesn’t withdraw her comments within 24 hours, the disabled persons will launch an agitation against her. Moreover, the State government should issue a show cause notice to her for making derogatory remarks against the disabled persons,” Balalatha said.
