Telangana’s growth rate is less than national growth: Bhatti

Hyderabad, July 25 (NSS): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has informed that Telangana’s growth rate is less than the national growth rate.

Presenting State government’s full-scale budget for the financial year of 2024-25 in the  Assembly on Thursday, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Indian economy has recorded a growth rate of 7.6 percent and Telangana recorded a growth rate of 7.4 percent during the same period.

“It is evident that Telangana’s growth rate is less than the national growth rate,”Bhatti Vikramarka said.

He stated that the Telangana’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) in 2023-24 is Rs.14,63,963 crores, which is 11.9 percent higher than the previous year and said that at the national level, this growth rate is at 9.1 percent.

Stating that Telangana’s economic health could be at risk, Bhatti Vikramarka said that measures should be taken to balance expenditure with revenue generation and reduce dependence on borrowing.

He further informed that the per capita income of Telangana in 2023-24 is Rs.3,47,229 whereas, the per capita income of the country is Rs.1,83,236.

“Compared to the National per capita income, the Telangana’s per capita income is higher by Rs.1,64,063. At the same time there is a gross inequality among various districts. For example, the per capita income of Rangareddy district is Rs.9,46,862- whereas that of Vikarabad is Rs.1,80,241. This indicates that the economic development among districts is grossly inequal and the State government will take measures to bridge the gap among districts,” Bhatti Vikramarka disclosed.
