Hyderabad, July 28 (NSS): The people on Sunday celebrated the Bonalu festival on the grand scale across the Hyderabad city.
Women were seen carrying the Bonam on their heads, queued up near temples to offer the Bonam to the Goddess. The temples and their surroundings are adorned with special lighting and colorful arches.
The main attractions include the Lal Darwaza Mahankali temple and the historic Akkanna Madanna Mahankali temple in Hari Bowli, along with other prominent temples in Gowlipura, Uppuguda, Aliabad, Saroor Nagar, Chilkalguda and more.
On behalf of the State government, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka presented silk clothes to Goddess Simhavahini Shri Mahankali at Lal Darwaza temple as part of the Ashada Bonalu festivities.
The Deputy Chief Minister along with his family members and Minister Ponnam Prabhakar visited the Lal Darwaza temple and offered the bonum to the Goddess.
Bhatti Vikramarka was accorded a grand welcome at the temple by Rajya Sabha Member Anil Kumar Yadav, BC Corporation Chairman Nuthi Srikanth Goud and other temple committee members.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister visited the Bhagya Laxmi temple at Charminar and presented the silk clothes on behalf of the State government.
Meanwhile, Minister for Tourism Jupally Krishna Rao on behalf of the State government presented silk clothes to Goddess Sri Mahankaleshwara at Miralam Mandi in the city.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister wished that the blessings of the Goddess should be upon everyone and the blessings should continue forever so that people can live happily and with good health.
Similarly, Minister for Roads and Buildings Komatireddy Venkat Reddy at Bhagya Laxmi temple in Charminar, Endowment Minister Konda Surekha at Katta Maisamma temple in Chilkalguda and Panchayat Raj Minister Seethakka at Khila Maisamma temple in Saroor Nagar presented the silk clothes on behalf of the State government.
The festivities will culminate on Monday with the oracle prediction, Rangam at the Akkanna Madanna temple, followed by a grand procession carrying the ‘Ghatams’ of Goddess Mahankali.
