SCR holds safety review meeting

Hyderabad, July 29 (NSS): Southe Central Railway (SCR) General Manager , Arun Kumar Jain held a review meeting on safety of train operations across South Central Railway on Monday ay Rail Nilayam, here.

  1. Dhananjayulu, Additional General Manager, SCR also participated in the meeting along with all the Principal Heads of Departments. Divisional Railway Managers (DRMs) of all six Divisions i.e. Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntakal, Guntur and Nanded joined the review meeting through video conference.

Arun Kumar Jain reviewed the safety of train operations over the zone and instructed the officials to strictly adhere to safety procedures in all the operations to avoid any unusual incident which may hamper movement. He also advised the officials to regularly counsel the running staff like Loco pilots, Assistant loco pilots and Station Masters, permanent way maintenance staff etc. He also held a detailed review on the availability of safety items pertaining to Engineering, Mechanical and Signaling equipment etc.,

The General Manager  discussed on the crew working hours and instructed all the Divisional Railway Managers to meticulously plan on the proper rest to the crew members. The General Manager launched the SPM (Speedo-meter) App during the review meeting.

The SPM app is an in-house developed application which evaluates crew performance for safety

and punctuality, while working on trains by checking the speeds, braking distance, signal adherence etc., visual and computer reports aid in this assessment process.

The SPM App facilitates comprehensive analysis of crew performance on various aspects, ensuring high standards of safety and punctuality in the train operations. The General Manager stated that the SPM is a wonderful tool to get detailed analysis within a short duration.

He stated that the App will not only ensure safety but is essentially helpful in monitoring

mobility, speed and other aspects of the loco.
