Salim is the founder of the Maulana Azad Foundation for Education and Social Amity (MAFESA) in Kolkata. Since its inception in 2012, MAFESA has thrived under her leadership, focusing on improving the quality of life through comprehensive educational programs and social initiatives. The foundation is dedicated to providing primary and secondary education for children up to age 14 and vocational training for underprivileged women, empowering them to achieve economic independence and self-sufficiency.
Husnara Salim’s contributions extend beyond her work with MAFESA. From January 2010 to December 2011, she served as a Fellow at the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Institute of Asian Studies (MAKAIAS). During her tenure, she played a pivotal role in restoring Maulana Azad’s personal belongings and conducted extensive research on his early life and that of his wife, Zulekha Begum. Prior to her fellowship, Salim held significant positions in early childhood education as Principal of Montessori School “Toddlers House” and Administrative Officer at Educare Montessori and Kindergarten, focusing on the holistic development of young children.
Her multifaceted career also includes roles in the travel industry with Indian Tobacco Company (ITC) and British Airways, where she managed corporate travel requirements and ground operations for passengers.
