
Nagarjuna Sagar, Aug.4 (NSS): With huge inflows from upstream, the Nagarjuna Sagar Project (NSP) constructed across the Krishna River is nearing its Full Reservoir Level (FRL).
The Nagarjuna Sagar project is currently receiving more than 5 lakh cusecs of flood water from the upstream Srisailam reservoir.
The water storage capacity of Sagar is 312.505 TMC ft. At present, 266.358 TMC ft water is stored. While the full water level of the project is 590 feet, the current water level has reached 573.90 feet. As the flood continues, the project is likely to be full till Monday morning.
Meanwhile, the authorities are making arrangements to lift the project gates by 8 AM on Monday. About 2 lakh cusecs of water will be released downstream. At first, the crust gates will be lifted to some extent and later, the water will be released downwards.
