Kishan Reddy plants sapling after his mother’s name

New Delhi, Aug.10 (NSS): Union Coal & Mines Minister G Kishan Reddy today planted a sapling in the name of his mother at his residence in New Delhi in response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Ek Ped Maake Naam’ call.

Stating that everyone is planting saplings in this spirit, Kishan Reddy suggested that mother should be respected. Minister Kishan Reddy spoke to the media after planting the sapling. He said as per the Prime Minister’s call to plant saplings and grow trees in the name of mothers, a programme of planting saplings was being conducted across the country. “Everything in our life is after mother. Therefore, it is Prime Minister Modi’s idea that every individual should plant a tree as a mark of mother’s honour.

“Just as mother has brought us up, we need to be partners in protecting the environment by conserving sapling and protecting it till it becomes big,” he said. He also said everyone should plant saplings as it is Modi’s wish that the  mother should be an inspiration to protect the environment.

“At a time when our surroundings are turning into a concrete jungle, we should all take the responsibility of protecting the environment. At a time when forests are shrinking and greenery is losing its sheen, it is a big challenge for the future,” he said while adding that his government’s aim is to protect the land in the name of the mother. “As part of that, I planted a sapling in the name of my mother and everyone irrespective of politics should take the responsibility of planting a sapling in his mother’s name and protecting the environment. Not only should the tree be planted, but the responsibility of protecting the tree should also be taken care of,” he said. On the occasion, he called upon celebrities and industrialists to plant saplings in the name of their mothers.

Commenting on Sunkesula reservoir disaster, he said there should be a high-level inquiry into Sunkesula dam collapse.  He scoffed the rumours of merger of the Opposition BRS party with the BJP. “There is no consultation in our party on the merger of BRS and added that the party high command would take a decision on the next State BJP president. Reddy said Elections would be held peacefully in Jammu & Kashmir and alleged that Pakistani terrorists were trying to disrupt the peaceful conditions in Kashmir. He said the Central Election Commission was ready to conduct the elections in Jammu and Kashmir as per the directions of the Supreme Court. He predicted that BJP State government would  be formed in Jammu and Kashmir.
