
Hyderabad, Aug.11 (NSS): The Nagarjuna Sagar project ( NSP) has become a centre of attraction to the visitors as 10 radial crest gates of the project are being lifted to release over one lakh cusecs of water into the downstream Pulichintala project.
As the flood is continuously coming from the Srisailam reservoir, the visitors in large numbers on Sunday thronged the Nagarjuna Sagar to see the beauty of the project and spectacular water flow from the dam.
As Sunday is a holiday, the number of tourists visited the project site is huge as compared to last few days and the people started coming to the project site since morning.
Meanwhile, the police have imposed restrictions to prevent any untoward incident on the project site. As part of precautionary measures, the road leading to the Nagarjunasagar main dam was completely closed and the visitors’ area at the power house was also closed. The police appealed to the people not to come near the project site for taking photos and selfies from mobile phones.
The NSP is currently 587.30 feet of water against the full water level of 590 feet. Similarly, there is 305.68 TMCs of water against 312.50 TMC, the full storage capacity of the project. Right now, the project is receiving 1,17,396 cusecs of inflow and the same is being released into the downstream.
