BJLP delegation visits Sunkishala project

Nalgonda, Aug.13 (NSS): A delegation of BJP MLAs inspected the Sunkishala project, which has witnessed the collapse of retaining wall recently, near Nagarjuna Sagar dam at Nalgonda district on Tuesday.

The party MLAs, including Alleti Maheshwar Reddy, Palvai Harish Babu and Rama Rao Patel, MLC AVN Reddy and local BJP leaders inspected the project site and examined the structure of project at the field level.

Speaking on the occasion, BJLP leader and MLA Alleti Maheshwar Reddy said  that the Sunkishala incident had left the people of the State stunned.

He demanded to know as to why the State government kept it a secret till it was posted on social media when the accident took place on August 2.

“Is the Congress government trying to save contractor Megha Krishna Reddy,” he asked.

Maheshwar Reddy also questioned as to why the earlier estimate of Rs 1,500 crore was increased to Rs 2,215 crore and demanded to know as to why the tunnel had to be opened before the completion of the project.

“According to officials, the contractor opened the tunnel without taking permission. Has it been investigated? A three-man committee has been constituted on the incident and the report has not been received yet,” he questioned.

Maheshwar Reddy demanded criminal action against the Megha company for doing substandard work in the pump house.

Party MLA Rama Rao Patel said that the fault of the contractor in the Sunkishala incident was clearly visible and demanded that Megha Krishna Reddy’s license be cancelled and the company should be blacklisted.

“ Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao say it is a minor accident. Is ₹. 2,000 crore of public money a small matter,” he asked.

Another BJP MLA Harish demanded to know as to why the Congress government was maintaining secrecy over the incident?

He alleged that the Congress government did not disclose it even after the accident went viral on social media and demanded that the State government should seek a CBI probe into the episode.
