Hyderabad, Aug.20 (NSS): Torrential rains lashed several parts of Hyderabad on Tuesday morning. The roads in the city were flooded due to incessant rain since 4 am. Heavy rain water entered the low-lying areas. Jubilee Hills, Banjara Hills, Yusufguda, Ameerpet, SR Nagar, Khairatabad, Basheerbagh, Abids, Nampally, Himayatnagar, Qutbullapur, Balanagar, Jeedimetla, Jagadgirigutta areas as well as Vanasthalipuram, LB Nagar, Pedda Amberpet and Abdullapurmet areas of the city received the torrential rains. The roads were waterlogged as the heavy rain lashed almost all parts of the city.
Several parts of the city have received moderate rainfall since Monday night. It rained heavily in the early hours of Tuesday. In some areas, the water reached knee-deep and became difficult to traffic movement. The low-lying areas were completely inundated. The GHMC officials turned alerted due to the rains. The corporation has advised the citizens to remain alert as there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rain for the next few days.
The motorists faced difficulties as rain water accumulated on the roads in the city due to the heavy rains. Vehicles were stranded in many areas. The Motorists faced severe difficulties due to heavy traffic jams in Malakpet. The GHMC has advised people in low-lying areas to remain vigilant. The GHMC DRF teams have been rushed to the spot to take up relief operations.
