People ready to teach another lesson to BJP: CPI leader D. Raja

Hanumakonda, Aug.22 (NSS)CPI national general secretary and former MP D Raja today said people had given a befitting lesson to the BJP by reducing it to half of the MP seats in the recent Lok Sabha elections and added that the people were ready to defeat the BJP even in the upcoming assembly elections in Haryana and Jammu & Kashmir States.

“Even though the BJP-led NDA government came to power for the third time, it is questionable as to how long this government will last,” he said while adding that it is clear that for how long TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar,  who supported the NDA government, would be with the BJP.

Raja was in Hanamkonda on Thursday to participate in the three-day meeting of the CPI’s State construction council in Hanamkonda. Raja was accompanied by CPI national secretaries Dr K Narayana and Syed Azeez Pasha, executive committee members Chada Venkat Reddy, CPI State secretary Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao, State secretariat members Palla Venkat Reddy, Takkellapalli Srinivas Rao, Pashya Padma, Kalavena Shankar, V S Bose, N Balamallesh, M Balanarasimha and E T Narasimha.

Speaking on the occasion, Raja alleged  that the RSS and the BJP were directly attacking the Constitution and added that there was a serious crisis situation in the country. He also alleged that the BJP government was trying to insert RSS activists into the bureaucracy in the name of lateral entry in job placements by ignoring the Constitution. “On the contrary, all democratic forces need to move forward together to protect the Constitution and democratic institutions,” he said.

He alleged that the BJP was  trying to rule the country with the slogan of ‘One Nation, One Election, One Religion and added that they were snatching away the rights and powers of the States. He also alleged that the BJP was trying to replace the Constitution with a new communal constitution. “The policy adopted by the Central government to make Jammu and & Kashmir a Union Territory was a big failure and added that encounters and attacks were taking place there while wondering where is the peace and normalcy that the BJP government has claimed in the Jammu & Kashmir State?

He also alleged that in the recently presented budget, the Central government had shown allegiance to the corporates and ignored the immediate problems of the people, especially to curb the prices of essential commodities and did not allocate any funds for the creation of education, medical and infrastructure. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who claims that India has become a developed country, should answer as to why there is a situation where free ration is being given in the country? He questioned as to why Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not asking SEBI chairperson, who has a stake in Adani firms, to step down from his post and why he was hesitant to set up a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) on the entire issue?

Reacting to the rape and murder of a PG medical student in Kolkata, Raja said the incident was  the most heinous crime and added that the Supreme Court should had to intervene into the issue adding that Modi should break his silence on the issue and take appropriate action. Raja demanded that a special law be brought in for the safety and security of doctors and staff in hospitals and medical institutions. He criticised the BJP government for conspiring to abolish reservations and social justice. He demanded that reservation should be implemented in the private sector as well.

He alleged that the Modi government was taking away constitutional and democratic rights and the right to life and added that the policies pursued by the BJP and RSS forces need to be defeated ideologically, politically and electorally. He said the Congress party, which had contested the last Lok Sabha elections in alliance with like-minded parties, had emerged as a strong party and added that in the interest of the country, the Congress party should discuss public issues and political issues with the other parties and move forward. He recalled that the CPI, which had worked with the Congress in had won one MLA seat and added that the Congress party, which had promised to give two MLC posts, was yet to officially make an announcement on it.

CPI state secretary and Kothagudem MLA Koonamneni Sambasiva Rao said that the Congress government in the state wanted  to move forward towards fulfilling the aspirations of the people. He also said that it had been eight months since the Congress government came to power and added that it was not able to come out of the crises created by the previous government. “As promised in the elections, we want to ensure that farmers’ loan waiver, free electricity scheme and gas subsidy scheme reach everyone and not to mobilise public opposition on such issues,” he said while adding that as an ally, they  will give suggestions. Rao said that the BRS party’s work in Telangana was over.
