Release funds for centrally sponsored schemes: Bhatti urges Centre

New Delhi, Aug.24 (NSS): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka has urged the Union government to extend the cooperation for the development of Telangana State and to release the funds for centrally sponsored schemes.

Bhatti Vikramarka called on Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in  New Delhi  on Saturday and brought many issues related to the Telangana State to her notice.

Later, speaking to the media, Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that he had explained the State’s financial situation to the Union Minister and requested assistance from the Centre.

“I  have also reminded the Union Minister about the release of funds for centrally sponsored schemes and the funds due to the Telangana as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. The previous BRS government had taken loans at the high interest rates, which are now putting a heavy burden on the State’s treasury. I  have requested that these loans should be rescheduled for providing some relief to Telangana,” Bhatti said.

The Deputy Chief Minister said that the  previous government had taken loans of Rs 31,795 crores at high interest rates and currently, the State government was paying more in interest on loans than its salaries.

On the occasion, the Union Minister responded positively and assured that a meeting would be held with State and central government officials to take necessary steps.
