Hyderabad, Aug.26 (NSS): Kisan Cell National Vice-President Kodanda Reddy has hailed the State government’s initiative of launching a massive anti- encroachment drive to protect lakes, ponds and water bodies through the establishment of Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRA).
Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Kodanda Reddy said the State government’s efforts reflect a long-term vision aimed at safeguarding water resources, transcending political boundaries. The Congress leader slammed BRS leaders for criticising Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s initiative to protect water bodies and said they had no right to criticise the Chief Minister as the previous BRS government was responsible for the encroachments of water bodies and government lands in Hyderabad.
He alleged that after the formation of Telangana State, the BRS government had supported illegal constructions and encroachments in Hyderabad and the total system was messed up without having lakes and ponds. Reminding that the people are extending their support to the State government to launch a demolition drive against the encroachments, Kodanda Reddy said the State government is committed to righteousness and public welfare and it will continue its effort to protect Hyderabad’s water bodies and ensure sustainable water management reflect a significant concern for the city’s future.
