Hyderabad, Aug.27 (NSS): Former MP & BRS party leader Boyinapalli Vinod Kumar today expressed happiness over the grant of bail to their party MLC K. Kavitha in the sensational Delhi liquor scam. He said Kavitha had taken the Bathukamma festival all over the world and made it popular. He also said MLC Kavitha played a key role in the separate Telangana movement in terms of culture. “We are happy that the Supreme Court has granted bail order to MLC Kavitha,” he said.
Speaking to mediapersons at Telangana Bhavan along with BRS party general secretary Soma Bharath Kumar, he said Kavitha would have got the bail within 15 days in the case if she was not a politician, but an ordinary citizen. He alleged that political leaders belonging to anti-BJP parties had been jailed because they were allegedly involved in the case. “Not a single rupee has been recovered in the Delhi liquor case. Cases have been filed against the liquor policy decision. The ED named ‘South Group’ in the case and behaved with arrogance. Women have certain legal rights in the matter of bail but the lower courts ignored them in case of Kavitha,” he added.
Commenting on Union minister Bandi Sanjay’s remarks on the bail issue of Kavitha, he alleged that Sanjay was making unsolicited comments. “Does Sanjay have any intelligence,” he asked. He made it clear that Lawyers in the Supreme Court would not act as the representatives of any political party. “Supreme Court advocate Mukul Rohatgi, who argued on behalf of Kavitha in the SC, served as Attorney General of India for five years in the BJP government,” he said.
He claimed that Kavitha would have got bail if their party bowed before the BJP. “We went ahead with our fight as per the law. No action had been taken against BJP MP Brij Bhushan for harassing the women. Himanta Biswa Sarma, who joined the BJP, was made Chief Minister of Asom by closing all cases against him by the BJP,” he alleged.
He questioned the Central government as to why the ED cases were not being filed against two Rajya Sabha MPs, who had joined the BJP from TDP in AP. “If you join the BJP, there are no cases against you. The case against Kavitha is a politically motivated case,” he alleged. He also alleged that there was a conspiracy to embarrass former CM KCR.
Soma Bharat Kumar said everything should be known and spoken before commenting on the judgments given by the courts. “This verdict has nothing to do with politics,” he said. He warned that contempt of court cases would be filed against those, who made derogatory remarks against the court.
