Khammam, Sept 1 ( NSS): The Telangana State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) has condemned the inhumane treatment of political prisoners at Chanchalguda Jail in Hyderabad.
In a statement here on Sunday, Jagan, an official Spokesperson of the Telangana State Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) said that the prisoners Amit Bajja, Gangadhar, and Raj Kumar are reportedly being held in solitary confinement, contrary to court rulings that oppose such practices for mental harassment.
Despite judicial guidelines, the jail authorities are allegedly violating court orders by imposing unauthorized punishments on these prisoners. They are denied basic privileges, including access to their cells during the day, which is against the established norms that require barracks to be open from 6 AM to 6 PM. Additionally, the prisoners are not provided with pens, notebooks, or proper access to correspondence and legal meetings, and the jail manual is not available to them, he said.
Jagan further stated that the authorities’ actions are deemed a gross violation of the prisoners’ rights. The party calls upon the government and courts to intervene immediately and address the grievances against the overbearing jail officials. The CPI (Maoist) expresses full support for the hunger strike being carried out by political prisoners at Chanchalguda Jail and demands that their legitimate demands be resolved without delay. The Maoist party has urged the prisoners to continue their struggle until their issues are addressed, he disclosed.
