Hyderabad, Sept.14 (NSS):BJP OBC Morcha National President and Rajya Sabha Member Dr K. Laxman today criticised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his decision to not attend the Telangana Liberation Day celebrations being held by the Central government on September 17 and alleged that the CM took the decision under pressure from their rival AIMIM party.
“It is sad that the Chief Minister was not attending the Telangana Liberation Day celebrations which are officially organised by the Union government. Former CM KCR had also acted in a similar manner in the past. Revanth will also suffer the same fate as KCR. Earlier, the State government did not officially celebrate the Liberation Day. However, in keeping with the sentiments of the people, the Narendra Modi government has been celebrating the festival in a grand manner for the last three years. Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was the chief guest at the event, recalled that cultural programmes have been designed in a grand manner to bring to light the history of the Telangana Liberation Day and showcase the stories of martyrs’ struggles. Similarly, this year too, on September 17, Telangana Liberation Day celebrations will be held at the Parade Grounds in Secunderabad under the aegis of the Union Ministry of Culture,” he said.
Addressing media persons here, Laxman reviewed the arrangements for the parade and cultural programmes along with rehearsals to be held at the Parade Grounds during the Liberation Day celebrations to be held at Parade Grounds in Secunderabad on the 17th of this month under the aegis of the Ministry of Culture of India. Along with Lakshman, former MLA Chintala Ramachandra Reddy and BJP leader Prem Singh Rathod and other leaders participated in the meeting.
Speaking on the occasion, Laxman said the CM should have acted in accordance with the aspirations of the people. He warned the State government that the people would not forgive just surrendering the State government to the Majlis party and acting in accordance with their instructions.
Referring to the decision of the State government to hold Public Rule Administration Day on September 17, he said it meant misleading the people. “This is the third time that Telangana Liberation Day is being officially celebrated under the leadership of the Narendra Modi government to inform the future generations about the history of the struggles against the autocratic Nizam and the sacrifices of the martyrs,” he said.
He wanted to know as to why the Communist leaders fought even though the Hyderabad State was liberated from the Nizam? He claimed that the war was waged with the military against the Razakars just to make it a red State with Russia. He demanded that the State government open its eyes and include the history of Telangana’s liberation in the textbooks.
