Parents appeal Government to start NEET counselling immediately

Hyderabad, Sept.14 (NSS)This year’s NEET process has already faced numerous challenges, beginning with issues in the Supreme Court and further compounded by recent developments in Telangana. These changes have led to confusion regarding local and non-local reservations, creating significant uncertainty and distress among students and parents.

Telangana has 56 Medical colleges and 14 Dental colleges. The total number of Medical seats are 11,582 and Dental 1290. The delay is causing a lot of anxiety in over 12,000 students and their parents. The parents appeal the State Government to start the counselling immediately. Parents and students across Telangana are currently enduring tremendous stress due to the prolonged delay in the NEET counselling process. While counselling sessions are being conducted in most other States, the extended uncertainty in Telangana is having a severe impact on both the academic future and mental well-being of the children.

The delay is particularly critical for students on the borderline—those who may or may not secure a seat. The prolonged waiting period is causing immense anxiety, reducing their chances of making timely decisions for alternative opportunities. The combination of delays, legal challenges, and institutional changes is creating significant confusion, particularly for students who are already under immense pressure. “We sincerely urge the Government to prioritize this issue and take immediate steps to expedite the counselling process. Timely action will help ease the mental strain on students and parents alike, while also ensuring that deserving candidates have a fair opportunity to secure their future.
