Joginder opens ‘Technology Exploration & Product Engg Laboratory’ at GITAM

Hyderabad, Sept.17 (NSS)Joginder Tanikella, CEO of T-Works, Government of Telangana, inaugurated the state-of-the-art ‘Technology Exploration and Product Engineering Laboratory’ at GITAM Deemed to be University, here  on Tuesday, in the presence of Prof. D.S. Rao, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rama Sastry Vedala, Director, School of Technology, Hyderabad and Dean-Core Engineering, and Aravind Babu, Nodal Officer, MSME.

Speaking on the occasion, Joginder stressed the need to equip the youth of the Nation with latest technologies coupled with real time world problems. He emphasized the importance of Universities like GITAM preparing technology students, who are industry ready, with industry-oriented curriculum coupled with considerable hands on experience and internships.

Prof. Sastry said this facility is established with an approximate budget of Rs 2 crore, designed to provide students with hands-on learning experience and enhance their project-based learning to showcase their innovative and creative skills. He said this is first of its kind facility adopted by any educational Institution / University in the State of Telangana.

Through TEP Laboratory, all I Year students of Technology, GITAM, are exposed to various machines, power tools and mechanisms, control units, basic electronics and microcontrollers, sensors, motors, pumps etc. This laboratory houses cutting-edge equipment such as a Wood Routing CNC Machine, Desktop Lathe cum Milling cum Drilling Machine, Wood Turning Lathe, MIG Welding Machine, EDM Wire Cut Machine, Laser Cutting Machine (for Metal and Non-Metal materials), 3D Scanner, 3D Printers of different types, PCB Prototyping Printer, to name a few.

Students will be guided through a complete project workflow starting from ideation, prototyping, testing, and validation, culminating in a Project Exhibition. Key learning outcomes from the lab include performing mechanical operations with power tools, understanding and applying IoT concepts, applying multi-disciplinary engineering skills to real-world problems, and fostering innovation and entrepreneurship.

The launch of this laboratory is expected to elevate students’ learning experience and equip them with the skills to conceptualize and develop physical projects, preparing them for future challenges in engineering and technology.
