Konda Surekha lashes out at BRS for humiliating her on social media

Hyderabad, Sept.30 (NSS): Minister for Forest and Endowments Konda Surekha has expressed deep anguish over being subjected to disrespectful posts on social media, despite her position as a woman minister.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Monday, Konda Surekha along with TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud accused the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) social media supporters of making degrading posts about her.

She questioned whether BRS working president KT Rama Rao would tolerate similar remarks if they were directed towards his sister, Kavitha.

The Minister emphasised that it is inappropriate to pay people to troll women.

She further accused KTR of constantly humiliating women, citing past instances where he allegedly insulted women by mocking them for using free bus services.

Surekha also pointed out that neither KTR, nor the BRS government had done anything substantial for weavers, despite being in power. She stressed that while criticism of government policies is acceptable, personally insulting women crosses a line. She delivered this impassioned statement in response to the recent trolling against her, becoming emotional several times during the press conference.

Surekha expressed frustration over the continued mistreatment, questioning how long such disrespect could persist.

She remarked that the very Padmashali community that helped the BRS come to power is now being insulted. The Minister mentioned that ever since K Chandrashekar Rao returned to power for a second term, significant changes had occurred in the BRS leadership, leading to erratic behavior among its leaders, driven by arrogance and money.

Surekha also hinted that former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao had not appointed her as a minister because he anticipated political challenges from her.

TPCC President Mahesh Kumar Goud also condemned the trolling against Minister  Konda Surekha, highlighting the pain felt by the Padmashali community.

He questioned whether the BRS would survive if the SC, ST, and BC communities turned against it. The TPCC president further criticised KT Rama Rao, suggesting that he should have apologised for the trolling.

Mahesh Kumar Goud urged BRS leaders KTR and Harish Rao to respond to the ongoing disrespect shown by their party leaders towards women, questioning how a party that disrespects women leaders can claim to honour them.
