Hyderabad, Sept.30 (NSS): CPI national secretary Dr K Narayana today accused the BJP-led coalition government at the Centre of conspiring to dissolve Parliament through an ordinance and hold assembly elections by violating constitutional rights. He said the CPI would launch nation-wide agitations against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisions in the name of ‘One Nation, One Ration, One Vote, One Election’ campaign.
Speaking to media persons at the CPI State office Maqdoom Bhavan here on Monday along with CPI State assistant secretary N Balamallesh, he demanded an answer from TDP chief and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, who are supporting the NDA government over the anti-people decisions being taken by PM Modi. Narayana said the CPI was not objecting to the construction of the Central government’s express highways in the name of development, but demanded that the Central government should construct them in such a way that they are useful to all. He said land was being acquired from farmers for the construction of the express highways eventually depriving them of their lands.
“As part of the construction of the express highways, a service road is being constructed and a boundary wall adjacent to it is being constructed, which is causing difficulties for the farmers to get into their fields and lands,” he said. He noted that recently, a large-scale agitation was organised with farmers in Chittoor district and the construction company temporarily made way for the farmers on both sides. Narayana said that the problem was across the country and added that a separate way should be constructed on both sides of the express road for the farmers so that they do not have to face any difficulty in entering their fields during the construction of these highways. Narayana said he had written a letter on behalf of the CPI to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in this regard and added that he sent the copy of his letter to Telangana CM A Revanth Reddy and AP CM Chandrababu Naidu and all Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha members.
Commenting on the ongoing demolitions of illegal structures in Hyderabad, Dr Narayana made it clear that the illegal constructions in Hyderabad should be removed and the Musi river should be cleaned as well. He, however, suggested that the State government should first rehabilitate the poor and then evacuate them. He said the CPI supports whatever the government does legally, but added that it was not fair to shift the poor without rehabilitating them. “If there are ponds, we will be able to increase the ground water and prevent pollution and that is why they have to be protected,” he said. For this, he suggested the government to immediately demolish the commercial buildings and villas constructed by occupying the ponds. Similarly, Narayana demanded that encroachments on the Firangi nalas from Vikarabad to Ibrahimpatnam should be removed.
CPI State assistant secretary Balamallesh said a CPI delegation had recently lodged a complaint with Hdra commissioner Ranganath regarding the illegal constructions in tanks, ponds and government lands in Greater Hyderabad limits. However, he said it was not right to terrorise the poor by removing houses of the poor without demolishing the houses of the rich people. He said the poor should be evacuated from their homes only after they were rehabilitated. He demanded that the government immediately remove the illegal villas and real estate ventures constructed by encroaching on the government lands, ponds and nalas.
