Hyderabad, Oct.8 (NSS): The Telangana government is keen to establish an Entrepreneurship Development Centre (EDC) in partnership with the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII) in Ahmedabad, said Minister for IT and Industries Duddilla Sridhar Babu.
On Tuesday, Dr. Sunil Shukla, the Director General of EDII, called on Minister Sridhar Babu to present proposals regarding the initiatives to be undertaken by their organisation.
On the occasion, Sridhar Babu announced that a consortium would be formed in collaboration with the State’s Industries department and various organisations to set up this center. He noted that training centers established by EDII are already operational in 17 States across the country.
“The Entrepreneurship Development Centre in Telangana aims to conduct awareness and training classes over the next four years to support 50,000 youths in establishing micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The focus will primarily be on secondary and tertiary cities, with plans to provide employment opportunities for at least 5,000 individuals annually. Furthermore, EDII will offer assistance for up to six months post-training to help these individuals secure employment,” Sridhar Babu said.
He also stated that financial assistance will be provided to MSMEs that suffered losses during the COVID-19 pandemic to aid their recovery.
The Minister further mentioned that the Union government has created the Online National Digital Commerce (ONDC) platform, which allows businesses to market their products for free, similar to online marketing platforms like Amazon and Flipkart.
