
Hyderabad, Oct.13 (NSS): Former Delhi University professor and noted civil rights activist Sai Baba passed away on Saturday. He was undergoing treatment at city-based NIMS hospital for the past few days. He died of a heart attack while undergoing treatment. Saibaba was admitted to NIMS 10 days ago after he complained of uneasiness. He was arrested in 2014 for his alleged links with Maoists. In 2017, Saibaba was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Gadchiroli sessions court. He was lodged in Nagpur jail from 2017 to March 6, 2024. He was recently acquitted and released from jail.
Sai Baba was born in Amalapuram in East Godavari district in Andhra Pradesh. After completing his graduation in Amalapuram, Saibaba was attracted to the Left ideology. He joined the All-India People’s Forum in 1992. Several programmes were done in a phased manner by him. He fought for civil rights for a long time.
Sai Baba was known as a professor, scientist and intellectual, who fought tirelessly for the protection of human rights. He was known as the hope of the weaker sections of the society. Sai Baba asked his family members to donate his eyes to those in need after his death.
