Hyderabad, Oct.14 (NSS): A team of probationary IAS officers of the Odisha 2023 batch arrived in the city on Monday to study the best practices being implemented in the GHMC. On the occasion, they visited the GHMC headquarters and studied the measures being taken by the GHMC in key departments such as tax, finance and solid waste management in the GHMC, public grievance redressal system, modern services and technology being provided to the people.
The command control room team of the GHMC met with the team members and briefed them about the steps being taken by the corporation for maintaining sanitation, creating infrastructure, generating revenue and the steps being taken for environmental sustainability through a power point presentation. On the occasion, GHMC officials explained the issues to various queries asked by several IAS officers.
Speaking on the occasion, Additional Commissioner Sneha Sabarish explained that the GHMC had made available an online system for property tax payments and explained about the various services being provided to the people through GHMC. She said all the properties under the GHMC limits had been mapped through the GISB survey and added that a huge amount of property tax had been collected simultaneously as the property tax has given the opportunity of one-time settlement to the people. She explained to them that the GHMC was increasing financial resources with various policies. On the occasion, she explained about the method of calculation of asset tax commercial residential tax.
The joint commissioner of sanitation Venugopal Reddy explained the various measures taken for the maintenance of sanitation in the city, details of staff working, door-to-door collection of garbage through swachh autos, processing of collected garbage, steps being taken for transportation of construction waste and recycling. “We are moving forward with the aim of making Hyderabad a green and clean city. More than 8,000 metric tonnes of solid waste per day will be recycled through treatment in the city,” he said.
The IAS officers later visited the control room at the GHMC headquarters. On the occasion, OSD Anuradha explained the functioning of the control room to them.
