Hyderabad, Oct.17 (NSS): The 115th Jayanthi of Dr Suri Bhagavantam was celebrated by Dr Suri Bhagavantam Foundation, Hyderabad on Thursday, at Osmania University. Governor of Tripura N. Indrasena Reddy was the chief guest.
Guests of honour are: Dr G Sateesh Reddy, former secretary, Department of Defence R&D, Chairman DRDO and Scientific advisor to Rakshamantri Prof P Lakshmi Narayana, Registrar, Osmania University.
During the event, Dr Suri Bhagavantam excellence awards were presented to Prof BS Murthy, Director IIT Hyderabad, U Raja Babu, distinguished scientist and Director General (Missiles and Strategic Systems), DRDO, Dr Prakash Chowhan, Director NRSC Hyderabad, Ravi Nimmagadda CEO and CTO Intelligent Design AI USA and Mocherla Sashibusan Chairman, Rivi Group of Companies
During the event, Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy said “Dr Suri Bhagavatam encouraged all departments of Osmania University to focus on research in the field of astronomy, oceanography physics and contributed immensely to the establishment of defence laboratories across the country with a aim of self-reliance and indigenisation.
The Governor applauded extraordinary contributions made by scientists and strongly recommend scientists to attend conferences frequently and to concentrate on minimising global warming, developing efficient batteries and AI/ML technologies. to minimise cybercrimes”.
Dr G Sateesh Reddy said “Dr Suri Bhagavatam is an eminent personality. As DG of DRDO, Dr Suri Bhagavantam contributed to many of the areas of defence research and established laboratory in Leh and in Tejpur after the China war and DRDL in Hyderabad and laboratories for radar, air borne systems in Bengalur and NSTL in Visakhapatnam. He also established more than 25 labs to work in defence technologies.
Dr Bhagavatam convinced Govt of India the importance of being self-reliant and making indigenous systems. He immensely contributed for identifying each research area and establishing the laboratory in that area for focusing on relevant research areas.
Prof Bhagavatam laid the foundation for today’s progress of defence technologies and systems. Dr G Sateesh Reddy emphasized to make our country a global leader in defence & aerospace systems and technologies”.
