Congress MP Chamala takes on BJP, BRS leaders over Musi river neglect

Hyderabad, Oct.18 (NSS) In a sharp critique of BRS and BJP leaders, Congress MP Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy has launched a scathing attack on the failure of the previous government in addressing the pollution of the Musi river.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Friday, Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy challenged BJP MP Eatala Rajender, urging him to bathe in the polluted Musi river if he truly believed its clean-up was unnecessary.

“If there is no need to clean the Musi, then stay there and take a bath in its waters. If you can endure the stench, then maybe there’s no need for action,” he ridiculed.

The Congress MP criticised Eatala Rajender for defecting to the BJP, claiming he had been “corrupted” by joining the party. He accused Rajender of following in the footsteps of his former leaders, K Chandrashekar Rao and KT Rama Rao.

In a sarcastic tone, he commented on the BRS leadership, stating that “Harish Rao holds press conferences in the morning, and by afternoon, KTR is out criticising the government.”

The Congress MP also ridiculed the promises made by BRS leaders to transform Hyderabad into a global city akin to Istanbul, calling them nothing but “hollow words.” He praised Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, saying, “Unlike your leaders, our Chief Minister is not making empty promises.”

In a broader political context, Chamala described the current struggle as a “war” between the ten years of BRS rule and the ten months of Congress leadership. He highlighted the Congress party’s commitment to reviving the Musi River, a crucial lifeline for the people of Bhongir.

“Revanth Reddy is determined to breathe new life into Musi,” he stated.

Chamala Kiran Kumar Reddy further criticised the previous BRS government for its inaction, questioning, “Did the past government intend for the poor to continue living in filth? Should the women of these communities never be able to conceive because of the polluted waters?”

He called on BJP’s Eatala Rajender, BRS’s KTR, and AIMIM’s Owaisi to voice their stance on the Musi river issue. “What are the opinions of BRS and BJP leaders on this? They need to speak up,” he demanded.
