
Hyderabad, Oct.18 (NSS): Governor Jishnu Dev Varma inaugurated two-day 16th Southern India Regional Conference of Practicing Company Secretaries with the theme “Indulgence of Intelligence here in the city at the Centre For Economic and Social Studies (CESS) in Punjagutta on Friday. Company secretaries, students and others from across South India participated.
Addressing the gathering after the inauguration, Governor Jishnu Dev Varma said intelligence is the crucial driver of the progress. The theme is very apt and relevant, he said. Companies Secretaries are playing a vital role in promoting social responsibility, he said. Today Company Secretaries play a significant role in Insolvency, Mediation, Arbitration, Valuation, Forensic Audit and Risk Management and so many other emerging areas. The young professionals entering the profession must stay updated and ensure compliance, he added.
“I am happy to note that ICSI is developing many specialist Company Secretaries in some of the areas such as Maritime Law and Capital Markets. These specializations are the need of the hour. Specialist company secretaries in these specializations such as Maritime Law and Capital Markets take the profession a long way. Because the world is becoming more super special, you must build robust relationships with your stakeholders”, he said.
All students belonging to North Eastern States and the State of Jammu and Kashmir who have passed the 10+2 or equivalent or Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent irrespective of the percentage of marks are given Fee Waiver while registering for Foundation Programme or Executive Programme Stage respectively, said CS B Narasimhan, National President of the ICSI. He said India needs nearly two lakh Company Secretaries by 2047 when its GDP becomes 30 trillion. He also informed that ICSI entered an MoU with Gujarat Law University to produce Company Secretaries with an MBA in Maritime Law. CS R Venkata Ramana, member of ICSI, informed that Hyderabad Chapter Building of Company Secretaries’ Bhoomi pooja will be commenced next month. They are planning to build a 10,000 sft building with an investment of Rs 10 crore.
The Governor presented the Late Madineedi Rama Krishna Subhadra Memorial Award to Krishna Agarwal, who passed all the papers of the Professional Program Examination of Company Secretaries at the first attempt. Krishna Agarwal was also given away the Late Ahalya Putty Memorial Award.
