Mid-Career Interaction Program between Armed Forces & Civil Services Officers held

Hyderabad, Oct.22 (NSS)Dr MCR HRD Institute launched a Mid-Career Interaction Program between Armed Forces and Civil Services Officers on Citizen-Centric Governance on Tuesday. The Program has been sponsored by Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT), Government of India.

Dr Shashank Goel, IAS, DG of the Institute & Spl Chief Secretary to Government of Telangana, who was the chief guest at the Inaugural Function, said the interaction between the officers from diverse professional expertise and experiences, such as the Armed Forces and Civil Services Officers, provides a platform to analyse the current scenario of functioning of our public institutions, discuss challenges, & to develop innovative approaches to improve governance, and ultimately benefit the citizens. He observed that Citizen-Centric Governance has assumed great importance in the contemporary scenario of rising expectations of citizens from different wings of government, demand for accountability, driven by greater awareness and fast communication.

 “Today, the citizens are more informed and engaged, than ever before, due to easy access to emerging technologies, including the social media, and in this scenario, citizen-centric governance has become a need of the hour”, Dr Shashank Goel,  highlighted.

“It is our duty to rise to the expectations of citizens and to work diligently to create systems that empower them to ensure that their voices are heard and needs met. A deliberate attempt should be made to make the government organizations Transparent, Participative, Inclusive, and Innovative, considering the fact that these are the important pillars of Citizen-Centric Governance”, Dr Shashank Goel, stated.

Dr Shashank Goel, IAS, said the concept of Citizen-Centric Governance goes beyond mere service delivery. “It demands a culture shift within our institutions in order to provide for empathy and adaptability at different rungs of administrative hierarchy”, he stated.

Dr Madhavi Ravulapati, Course Director and Centre Head, CLP & CIS said the Interaction Program, inter alia, provides for discussion among the participants, belonging to Armed Forces and Civil Services Officers, on different aspects of Citizen-Centric Governance and also presentations. “A report will be sent to the DoPT for consideration and necessary action in the matter”, she added. She also spoke about the salient features of the Interaction Program and also welcomed the gathering.
