Hyderabad, Oct.28 (NSS): The 3rd National Lok Adalat held under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority on September 14, 2024 in the State of Telangana. Under the able guidance of Justice Alok Aradhe, Chief Justice of High Court for the State of Telangana & Patron-in-Chief of Telangana State Legal Services Authority and active support given by Justice Sujoy Paul, Judge, High Court for the State of Telangana & Executive Chairman of Telangana State Legal Services Authority, to all the District Legal Services Authorities and Taluk Legal Services Committees, to ensure the maximum disposal of cases benefiting the maximum number of parties from the said Lok Adalat.
A total number of 6,11,996 pending criminal and civil cases were taken up in the 3rd National Lok Adalat and out of them, 6,05,805 cases were settled which comes to 98.99%. Out of which, 3,204 civil cases and 6,02,601 criminal cases pending were settled.
In the 3rd National Lok Adalat, 6,41,022 pre-litigation cases were taken up. Out of them, 6,33,239 cases were disposed of and its percentage comes to 98.79. The total disposal in the 3rd National Lok Adalat, 2024 is 12,39,044 with percentage of 98.88.
The pending cases across all the categories like motor accident compensation cases, civil suits, cheque bounce cases, matrimonial disputes were taken up for settlement. An award of Rs 25019,44,44,7/- crore was passed in the cases taken up in the 3rd Lok Adalat.
The pre-litigation cases before Lok Adalat which is an important facet of Alternative Dispute Resolution in which 6,33,239 cases were disposed of in the 3rd National Lok Adalat. The pre-litigation cases are the cases which were not reached before the Courts. Before reaching the courts itself, the pre- litigation cases were settled in the Lok Adalat. This is one of the important act which lowers the burden of courts.
Under the leadership of the Chief Justice Alok Aradhe and Patron-in Chief of Telangana State Legal Services Authority, and the guidance given by Justice Sujoy Paul, Judge, High Court for the State of Telangana & Executive Chairman of Telangana State Legal Services Authority, all the District Courts have set up 130 pre- lok Adalat Conciliation Sitting to settle the good number of cases in the 3rd National Lok Adalat which led towards the maximum disposal of the cases taken up in the Lok Adalat. Total 230 Lok Adalat Benches constituted across the State of Telangana.
The Chief Justice of High Court congratulated all the stakeholders who made the 3rd National Lok Adalat a grand success and who have extended their support in placing the Telangana State Legal Services Authority top in disposal of cases in the 3rd Lok Adalat. They have also suggested the parties to come forward to settle the disputes by availing the facilities of Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanism in which Lok Adalat is one, said Ch.
