Poll promises PM blasts Cong; Cong fails to expose Modi

Hyderabad, Nov.5 (P.A. Rama Rao): Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s reaction to the Congress President Mallikarjun Karge’s observation on election promises has come in for severe criticism from the political analysts. The Prime Minister lambasted the Congress party for doling out promises and then failing to fulfil them. Analysts contended that the Prime Minister himself had made many promises which remained unfulfilled even after a decade, but the Congress leaders have failed to expose Narendra Modi’s failure effectively.

The Congress president, on Friday, advised the Congress leaders of different States to desist from making promises which will result in the States becoming bankrupt. He made it clear that only promises which can be implemented should be made, keeping in mind the State’s financial status.

Reacting to the remarks of Kharge, the Prime Minister said the true colours of the Congress leaders has come out. Mounting a scathing attack on the Congress, Narendra Modi said in a post on ‘X’ that doling out promises is easy but their fulfilment is difficult. The Congress leaders knew that it is not possible to fulfil the promises, but they are deceiving the people by making such promises. He also said the financial situation in Congress ruled States like Karnataka and Himachal Pradesh has become very critical, and in Telangana, the farmers are still anxiously waiting for loan waiver, promised by the Congress leaders. Modi has called upon the people to be alert about the false promises being made by the Congress leaders.

Countering the Prime Minister’s criticism, the Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy explained the achievements of the State government, and the Karnataka Congress have also listed out the promises made by them and fulfilled by the government.

Political analysts, however, pointed out that the Congress leaders have failed to expose Narendra Modi’s duplicity, by reeling out the promises he had made more than a decade and how they remained unfulfilled even today. Narendra Modi has promised to bring back huge amount of money stashed in foreign banks within 100 days of forming the government and credit Rs 15 lakh into the bank account of all the poor, who constituted more than 80 percent of the country’s population; create two crore jobs every year; control the price rise; provide a house to each family and supply pure drinking water, provide latrines to each house by 2022, but failed to fulfil even one promise so far.

Price Rise

The Union Ministers G Kishen Reddy, Bandi Sanjay, and almost all BJP leaders have made it a point to flay the Congress party leaders every day on the government’s failure to fulfil the promises made. The Congress leaders have, however, failed to effectively expose Narendra Modi’s failure to fulfil the promises he made more than a decade ago. Even during the campaign on the eve of recent Lok Sabha elections, the Congress and other party leaders have failed to effectively propagate the BJP and Narendra Modi’s failures and educate the people, observers feel. Despite Modi’s promise to curb price rise, it is an irony that the prices of almost all essential commodities and also medicines are going up almost every month and there seems to be no mechanism to control the price rise, as a result, the common man is facing many hardships.
