Hyderabad, Nov.6 (NSS): BC Welfare Association national president R Krishnaiah today demanded that all political parties allot seats to BCs in the MLC elections for graduates and teachers.
Speaking on the occasion, he said all political parties had done injustice by not giving enough seats to the BCs in assembly and parliamentary elections. “At least now, the MLC seats should be allotted to BCs and justice should be done. The BCs are also financially strong. There will be pressure from the BC teachers and students,” he said. He demanded that in a democracy all castes should be given an opportunity on the basis of population. “The BCs are seen as voting machines… They are not being given seats,” he said. He said whoever gives seats to BCs would be the ones who would be elected by the BC graduates and teachers.
R Krishnaiah warned that parties that do not give seats to the BCs would be punished. “We have been fighting for years to bring a BC Bill in Parliament and provide 50% reservation in legislatures. He asked all political parties to support the BC Bill.
