
Hyderabad, Nov.8 (NSS): Drugs Control Administration, Telangana seized ‘MENSET Forte Syrup,’ an Ayurvedic medicine, in Peddapalli for making misleading advertisement that it treats ‘disorders of menstrual flow’.
DCA officials, detected an ayurvedic medicine ‘MENSET Forte Syrup,’ moving in the market with misleading claim on its labels that it treats ‘disorders of menstrual flow’ which is a contravention of the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954 prohibits advertisement of certain drugs for treatment of certain diseases and disorders. No person shall take part in publication of advertisement regarding the diseases/disorders indicated under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954.
During the raid conducted on November 7 to detect medicines moving in the market with misleading and objectionable advertisements, DCA officials detected ‘MENSET Forte Syrup,’ Manufactured by Onus Zaneka, SIDCUL, Haridwar, Uttarakhand. Marketed by: Zaneka Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd, Haridwar, Uttarakhand. The label of the product bears a misleading claim stating that it treats irregular menstruation, menopausal syndrome, and amenorrhea (menstrual disorders).
The said ayurvedic medicine was detected by DCA officials at a medical store in Peddapalli. Stocks were seized during the raid. Advertisement of a medicine for treatment of ‘disorders of menstrual flow’ is prohibited under Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act, 1954. P. Shravan Kumar, Drugs Inspector, Peddapalli and T. Chandana, Drugs Inspector, Mancherial, are among the officers who carried out the raid.
