Hyderabad, Nov.16 (NSS): A 39-year-old male businessman from Hyderabad received a phone call and a message on WhatsApp. He was advised to trade on an international equity fund platform and subsequently downloaded the app from the Play Store.
The scammers provided a user ID (9440601609) for trading. Trusting their advice, the victim began investing, ultimately totalling an amount of Rs 48, 97,000/-in the app, the scammers displayed the invested amount along with a supposed profit of Rs 62,13, 535/-.
However, when the victim attempted to withdraw the funds, the scammers denied the transaction and demanded a 27% tax payment. Realizing it was a fraud; the victim reported the incident online at 19.30 and filed a complaint.
