Kavitha slams Revanth govt for children’s deaths

Hyderabad, Nov.23 (NSS)BRS party MLC Kalvakuntla Kavitha has lashed out at the State government for neglecting the deaths of innocent children for every ten days. She demanded that the lives of children studying in government schools be taken up as a priority issue and take immediate action. “If you look at any school from Adilabad to Alampur, there is a record of some incident,” she said. She also said the school system across the State had been destroyed. She also demanded a compensation of Rs 10 lakh for the families of the 42 children, who died.

MLC Kavitha on Saturday visited Gurukul student Shailaja and her family members, who fell ill after consuming contaminated food at Vankidi tribal girls’ ashram school in Kumrambheem Asifabad district and is undergoing treatment at NIMS hospital.

Speaking to media persons, she said it was very sad that such incidents were  happening frequently, “Shailaja is also reported to be on the ventilator. It is not right for the government to ignore the loss of infants’ lives,” she said, adding it had been 11 months since the government came to power and so far 42 children studying in government schools at the rate of three per month on an average had died due to food poisoning due to the negligence of the government. “On an average, the government is killing one infant every 10 days,” she said and added that it appeared that all the welfare departments were not able to spend time as they are with the Chief Minister. It has been suggested that a review of at least 10 minutes will save the life of the children.

“It is a matter of concern that another such incident took place a day after the Chief Minister held a review after the children fell ill due to consuming poisonous food in Narayanapet hostel. Children are also staging a dharna,” she said and recalled that in the past, under the leadership of KCR, the Telangana society had witnessed a time when children studying in government schools had gone with lofty ambitions and goals whether to go to IITs and IIMs or climb Mount Everest.
