Hyderabad, Nov.29 (NSS): In a resolute effort to safeguard their community’s dignity and seek recognition, Congress MLA Gaddam Vivek Venkatswamy announced the grand “Mala Simha Garjana” meeting in Hyderabad on December 1.
The event aims to highlight issues such as the community’s self-respect and the need for equitable treatment.
Speaking to supporters, Vivek emphasised the importance of unity among the Mala community, urging them not to stay silent or passive in their homes but to actively participate in the meeting. He clarified that the event is not aimed at criticising any other caste or community but is a platform to advocate for the rightful demands of the Malas.
The meeting will also address concerns about Article 341 and the potential rollback of reservations. Vivek cautioned that abolishing this provision would endanger the community’s future access to reservations, which are critical for their socioeconomic upliftment.
“We are not against anyone, but demand justice for our people. Unity is essential to safeguard our identity and heritage,” he stated.
The Chennur MLA also criticised accusations that some individuals within the Mala community were exploiting resources meant for the larger population. He pointed out that their fight is not about dividing resources, but about protecting their constitutional rights and ensuring fair representation.
Further, Vivek denounced the “creamy layer” concept, arguing that it unjustly discriminates against certain sections of the community. “I am one of the highest taxpayers and have no government contracts, yet our commitment to justice remains steadfast,” he added.
The meeting is expected to witness participation from thousands across the Telangana State and district-level meetings are being organised to ensure its success. Vivek called for collective effort, saying, “This is a defining moment for the Mala community to stand united and secure our future.”
