
Eturu Nagaram, Dec.1 (NSS): An encounter took place in Eturu Nagaram Chalchaka forest area in Mulugu district. There was an exchange of fire between the security forces and the Maoists. Seven Maoists were killed in the incident. Telangana Greyhounds and anti-Maoist squad jointly carried out the operation. The police have not officially confirmed the encounter.
It is learnt that key Maoist leaders were among the dead. The deceased have been identified as Bhadru alias Pappanna, who is the secretary of the Yellandu and Narsampet area committee, along with members of his squad. The other deceased have been identified as Kurusam Mangu alias Bhadru alias Papanna (35), Egolapu Mallaiah alias Madhu (43), Mussaki Deval alias Karunakar (22), Mussaki Jamuna (23), Jai Singh (25), Kishore (22) and Kamesh (23).
Tension prevailed in Eturu Nagaram agency in the wake of the encounter of the Maoists. Seven Naxals were killed in the encounter. Police believe that another eight people have escaped. Search operations have been intensified in Tadwai, Govindraopeta, Eturunagaram, Venkatapuram and Vajedu mandals along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border area. Vehicles coming and going through the main roads are being stopped and searches are being conducted. The suspects have been taken into custody and are being interrogated by the police. All the police stations have been put on high alert as there is a possibility of retaliatory action from the Maoists. In the wake of the incident, people are panicking about what will happen in the agency area.
