
Hyderabad, Dec.4 (NSS): GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi today said divyangs were showing their mettle in all spheres. The Mayor wished that divyangs should rise to the top in all respects with hard work.
Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, along with Khairatabad MLA Danam Nagender participated in a programme organized at the premises of CMTI Training Centre in Jubilee Hills of Khairatabad Zone on Wednesday as part of the ‘Praja Palana Praja Vijayotsavalu program on the occasion of International Day of the Differently-abled and distributed accessories, tricycles, hearing aids to the differently-abled.
Speaking on the occasion, the Mayor said the State government was making all efforts for the welfare of the divyangs. She suggested that the divyangs should take the lead in all fields and make a definite plan so that they can live on their own feet and move forward accordingly with perseverance and courage. Divyangs should take advantage of all opportunities that have come their way.
Danam Nagender said the divyangs should not be discouraged in anything and should overcome their disability with inspiration and competitiveness without any hesitation and achieve what they want. He said the State government was providing welfare schemes to the differently-abled persons and added that the State government would extend all possible help to the differently-abled persons.
GHMC UCD Additional Commissioner Chandrakanth Reddy said the divyangs in the civil society were not inferior to anyone. Stating that they have leadership qualities, he said they should go ahead with confidence and courage and reach their goal. He said bank loans were being provided to women differently-abled self-help groups to encourage them to do business.
“The GHMC is organising the International Day of The Differently-abled on December 3 and distributing 7,576 relief devices and accessories worth Rs 3.15 crore to 3,619 differently-abled persons identified in 30 circles of the GHMC. As part of this, 99 relief materials and equipment were distributed to 81 beneficiaries today. 16 wheelchairs, one wheelchair with commody, four medium and large sticks used for walking, eight adjustable elbow sticks, five sugamya canes, one holdable walker, 18 knee braces, 16 digital hearing aids, 21 tricycles, one Braille kit were distributed,” he said.
Later, the Mayor visited the health camp set up there. The tests being conducted at the medical camp, the medicines being given and so on were examined by her. On the occasion, the Mayor gave several instructions on health precautions to be taken to the sanitation staff.
Deputy Commissioner Prasanthi, RPs, women of self-help groups, beneficiaries, differently-abled, local people and others participated in the programme.
