Armed Forces flag day celebrated

Hyderabad, Dec.7 (NSS): The Armed Forces Flag Day (AFFD) 2024 was celebrated at the Directorate of Sainik Welfare, Hyderabad and all the ten Regional Sainik Welfare Offices in the State with the help of Ex-Servicemen, their families and NCC Cadets.

Armed Forces Flag Day Fund was established during the year 1949 to ensure rehabilitation and resettlement of ex-servicemen and their families.

Jishnu Dev Varma, Governor of Telangana and Chairperson of Armed Forces Flag Day Fund inaugurated the Armed Forces Flag Day by wearing an Armed Forces Flag Day sticker and by donating generously to the Fund.

Governor has presented Trophies to the Hyderabad region for collecting a maximum amount of Rs 2.5 lakh Fund.  Sreenesh Kumar and the staff received the trophy. A Trophy was also presented to Nizamabad Office for collecting Rs. 4.7 Lakhs for the Fund and it was received by D Ramesh and the staff of RSWO Nizamabad.

A Revanth Reddy, Chief Minister of Telangana has accepted the Armed Forces Flag Day Sticker and donated Rs 1 Lakh for the AFFD Fund.

Shanti Kumari, Chief Secretary and Sri Ravi Gupta Special Chief Secretary also accepted Armed Forces Flag Day Stickers and donated generously for the AFFD Fund.

The AFFD was celebrated at the Directorate at Somajiguda by Honouring Veer Naris of soldiers who laid down their lives while fighting for the Nation. All Gallantry Award Winners in Telangana State were also honoured on the occasion. Captain Sreenivas, Sri Narottam Reddy and other staff attended the event. Major General N Srinivas Rao (Retd), Previous GOC HQ TASA and Anuradha were the chief guests who felicitated all the Veer Naris and Gallantry Awardees.

Speaking on the Occasion, Colonel Ramesh Kumar, Director of Sainik Welfare thanked all the employees of the Telangana Government for their generous voluntary contributions to the AFFD Fund every year.  He also thanked the DDG NCC and all Group and Battalion Commanders and NCC Cadets for their unflinching support in organizing Armed Forces Flag Day.
