Hyderabad, Dec.11 (NSS): Legislative Council Chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy has made striking remarks on the reasons behind elected representatives distancing themselves from the people and facing electoral defeats.
He highlighted the role of Personal Assistants (PAs) and Public Relations Officers (PROs) in creating a barrier between legislators and the public.
Speaking at a training session for MLAs and MLCs held at the MCRHRD Institute on Wednesday, Gutha Sukhender Reddy pointed out that rude behavior by PAs and PROs discourages public interaction.
He stressed the need for legislators to maintain direct communication with their constituents. The Council Chairman cited instances where people calling their MLAs faced hostile responses from the staff, resulting in alienation.
Addressing the attendees, he emphasised the importance of staying accessible via phone and urged the representatives to actively engage with their electorate.
The training session aimed to equip MLAs and MLCs with skills to bridge the gap between them and the people, thereby fostering trust and improving governance.
